Despite the apparent "struggle" with "masterpieces" of small architecture, which Uzhgorod is literally packed with, construction of new kiosks continues.
According to the social activist Ferenc Baki, another structure almost appeared in front of the Regional Centre for Neurosurgery just yesterday.
"Yesterday 21.02.2015, at 17:00, passing Regional Center for Neurosurgery on Kapushanska Street, I noticed unknown persons unloading cement and sand from a truck onto the green zone. An unknown man in a black leather jacket, staked the green zone and ordered two workers to dig. I come up to them and asked what they digging there. They said that it was the foundation, but did not tell for what and for whom. The man, who was supervising the work, failed to present any permission documents and refused to give explanations. Then I started to call 102.
It took 30 minutes for the police to finally pick up the phone… 20 minutes later, the police unit arrived. During the conversation with the police officer, the contractor (the one in the leather jacket) began to call an unknown person, said that they would come and "solve" everything, then he said that the "cover" was not coming and that they had been asked to dig by some friends, and later said that they had wrong address and accidentally had started digging in the wrong place.
I receorded everything on photo and video, gave explanations to police officers and wrote a statement on offense.
The most interesting thing is that I was watching this outrage for 30 minutes, and not a single "Uzhgorod resident" stopped to find out what was going there or called the police. Everybody was passing by silently looking like sheep" – the author laments.
