The quarantine in Uzhgorod schools will go on for one more week

Schools of the regional center of Transcarpathia will be closed until March 5.

To extend the quarantine in Uzhgorod educational institutions for one more week – from February 26 to March 5 – this decision was adopted at today’s meeting of the anti-epidemic commission of the Uzhgorod City Council, which was also attended the deputies of the city council, representatives of the media, – Uzhgorod city council informs.

According to Uzhgorod city and district branch of the state institution "Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine", as of February 22, 2018, the epidemic situation with the incidence of ARVI and flu in Uzhgorod has become worse, for the first time in the 2017-2018 season laboratory-confirmed cases of the flu A have been detected which is a sign of the circulation of influenza viruses among Uzhgorod citizens.

Compared to the last week, there was a 15.8% increase in the ARVI and flu incidence, 61.4% of the cases are children under 17, of which 40.6% are school-age children, and the rate of hospitalization increased by 52%. At the same time, the incidence rate in Uzhgorod is 7.7% below the epidemic threshold.

Doctors also note rapid growth of the incidence rate among adults – by 38.5%, the incidence rate among Uzhgorod residents aged 30-64 years has almost doubled.
