The prospects for democratic self-government in the region were discussed in Transcarpathia

Yesterday, March 5, at the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, there was a round table on "The prospects for democratic self-government in the context of the Law of Ukraine "On principles of regional policy."
The event was attended the head of the RSA Vasyl Hubal, the Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko, heads of departments and offices of the Regional State Administration, representatives of local authorities and executive bodies, NGOs and political parties, academics and teachers of UzhNU.

The main purpose of the roundtable was to identify and discuss the main approaches, priorities and perspectives of local government reform in Transcarpathia.

Teachers of UzhNU told about the problems of the local government reform, the administrative reform and the prospects of such reforms. In their view, the success of these reforms depends on a constitutional basis for local government reform and measures to strengthen the financial base of local governments.

The Vice President of the Association for Development and Reform of Cities, Towns and Villages "Transcarpathia – XXI century", the expert of the Association of Cities of Ukraine Oleg Luksha told in detail about the drafted Development Strategy of Transcarpathian region in the context of the Law "On State Regional Policy", which provides for the development of districts, decentralization and professionalization of service in local government bodies. He noted that the strategy is the basis for the implementation of regional development projects arising from its objectives and the basis for making management, budget and investment decisions for the development of the region. Thus, the document sets out key characteristics of the region, natural resources, human, economic, technological, spatial and economic potential of the region, infrastructure development and foreign trade, the main factors, strategic goals and scenarios of the development of the region, the risks and obstacles to the effective implementation of the planned tasks.

Finally, the attendees observed a minute of silence for the dead miners of the Zasadko mine due to the tragedy that occurred on March 4 in Donetsk region.
