The prosecution office control the observance of legislation on waste management

The issue of observance of legislation on waste management is extremely important for our country. The results of irresponsible attitude to the collection and disposal of solid waste on the part of managers at different levels and average citizens can be seen every time when the water levels in the rivers of Transcarpathia rise.

    This year Transcarpathian Interdistrict Prosecutor’s Office for supervision over the observance of laws in the environmental field has conducted 13 inspections in this area, following which they made 9 submissions, and brought to justice 12 officials of controlling bodies.

    The relevant information on the criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of authority by an official of a legal entity of private law, regardless of the legal form) over the failure on part of officials of a company in the region to take measures for disposal of used packaging and packaging materials from the imported products sold on the territory of Ukraine was registered in the URPI.

     "Three claims to recognize the inaction of village councils regarding waste management unlawful and to oblige them to take concrete steps to streamline landfills have been filed with court, two of them have already been satisfied" – the Transcarpathian interdistrict prosecutor for supervision over the observance of laws in the environmental field Mykhailo Hanhur informed.
