The meeting of the Competition Council for the Contest of Local Carpathian Community Initiatives organized by the Association "Euroregion Carpathians – Ukraine" has identified the winning projects.
Applications were accepted from December 27, 2018 to March 15, 2019. Out of the 142 applications submitted for participation in the contest, 35 projects from Lviv, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions became winners in three priorities: "Preservation of the natural heritage", "Popularization of the historical and cultural heritage", "Tourism". Total budget of projects is UAH 11.2 million, including a UAH 8.1 million grant. The contest winners, which will be implementing unique initiatives with added value on the map of the Carpathians, are 5 district councils, 2 cities of regional importance, 5 united communities, 9 village councils and 14 non-governmental organizations.
One of the winners in the priority "Preservation of the natural heritage" is the project "Preservation and promotion of park zones of the city of Uzhgorod". The amount of the grant is UAH 247 thousand, it will be implemented with co-financing by Uzhgorod City Council. The aim of the project is to popularize the urban green natural areas, parks and gardens by means of improvement of the "Bozdosh" park. Within the framework of the project, recreation areas, internet coverage will be arranged, greenery in the Bozdosh Park will be renewed, the construction of a modern bus stop will be arranged, etc.
