Members of Regional Council at the plenary session, held on December 30, approved the Program for the Support of the Media and Information Development for 2015 – 2017.
The purpose of this Program, the document states, is strengthening of the freedom of speech; development of quality information environment; creation of adequate conditions for media coverage of social and economic life of the region, activity of the executive authorities and local governments, development of the civil society, cultural and sporting life of the region; activities related to organization of conferences, roundtables, briefings, press tours, festivals, and sociological research, media monitoring, organization of the competition among media for the best publications, television and radio programs, celebration of anniversaries of newspapers, radio and television, professional holidays of journalists, radio and television workers; coverage of the activity of executive bodies and local authorities in print and electronic media; provision of financial assistance to regional organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
The Program shall be funded from the regional budget, which is 750,000 UAH in 2015, 750,000 UAH in 2016, abd 800,000 UAH in 2017.
14 billion hryvnias from the defense fund will be used for weaponization of the army
In the state budget for 2015, 31.6% of the funds provided for the Ministry of Defence will be spent on the development of weapons.
This was announced at the briefing by the Acting Speaker of the GS Vladislav Seleznev.
"According to the state budget for 2015, the MOD will receive 40.2 billion hryvnia. It is almost 13 billion more than that in 2014" – Seleznev said.
According to him, in addition to that, the state guarantees in amount of 4.4 billion hryvnias may be provided by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"Thus, in 2015 the Ministry of Defence budget may be 44.6 billion UAH", – Vladislav Seleznev said.
According to him, 2.8 billion hryvnia of this amount will be spent for purchase of property for servicemen, 2.3 billion – for the purchase of fuel, 1.5 billion – for food for the personnel and payment for utilities, 400 million – for major repairs, maintenance of barracks, engineering works for the line of defense.
Another 1.1 billion is planned to be spent for the health and transport provision, 18.3 billion – for the payment of salaries, 5.2 billion – for the financing of the state defense orders, 3.8 billion – for repair of weapons, 700 million – for the provision of communication, 1 billion – for housing construction.
Also, 14 billion hryvnia, or 31.6% of the defense budget for 2015 will be spent for the development of weapons.
"For comparison, in 2014 this amount was 3.9 billion hryvnia, or 14.5%," – Seleznev said.
