The issues concerned the approval of various programs and changes to them, cooperation with the self-governing regions of Slovakia and Romania, a number of appeals to higher levels of government, parliamentary inquiries, results of the implementation of regional programs, financial support of the region’s activities, etc.
On Monday, June 4, a meeting of the Presidium under the chairmanship of Mykhailo Rivis took place in the Parliamentary Hall of the Regional Council, during which the heads of specialized commissions considered and approved the agenda of the plenary session of the 11th session. It was also attended by the first deputy chairman of the Regional Council Yosyp Borto and the deputy chairman of the Regional Council Petro Hrytsyk, the executive staff of the Regional Council.
Then, the members of the Presidium reviewed the amendments and suggestions made during the meetings of the standing committees and actively discussed the agenda of the next plenary meeting of the session.
When it came to the issue of the recognition of volunteer fighters, who took part in the defense of territorial integrity and state sovereignty in eastern Ukraine, a fierce debate started.
Oleksandr Ledyda suggested to establish a relevant commission on recognition of volunteers with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine Office. The participants agreed and unanimously added this issue to the agenda of the 11th session.
Mykhailo Rivis also informed that the head of the Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal initiated the appeal of the Regional Council to the government regarding the recognition of this category of fighters at the state level. So, the Department of Social Welfare of the RSA is preparing the text of the appeal.
Next, the Presidium agreed on the list of issues with relevant proposals and comments submitted for the plenary meeting of the 11th session of the Regional Council, which will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2008.
