The President of Ukraine signed the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding Volunteering", which will facilitate the development of volunteering in Ukraine and improves the quality of volunteer assistance.
The Law № 246-VIII of March 5, 2015 regulates social relations connected with volunteering in Ukraine. The main objective of the bill is to ensure effective regulation of legal relations arising in the process of volunteering in Ukraine, promoting volunteering in Ukraine, improving the quality of volunteer assistance.
The law defines areas of volunteering, defines the term "volunteering", "volunteer", removes restrictions on volunteering carried out by organizations and institutions, specifies the rights and responsibilities of volunteers and organizations and institutions that engage volunteers in their activities, explains the features of reimbursement associated with providing volunteer assistance; other changes that will promote volunteering.
The law also introduces amendments to voluntary insurance of volunteers’ life and health for the period of providing volunteer assistance by organizations and institutions that engage volunteers in their activities.
