The decision is important for Ukraine in general and for the Ukrainian Carpathian region, including Transcarpathia, in particular. This was reported by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Hungary, Liubov Nepop, on her Facebook page, referring to the Office of the President:
"Unlocking and fully utilizing the potential of our border region is important for deepening of meaningful interaction with our neighbors."
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the Decree "On the Development of the Ukrainian Carpathian Region" (No. 543/2019). The document is aimed at stimulating socio-economic development, increasing investment attractiveness, developing recreational, tourism and ethno-cultural potential of the Ukrainian Carpathian region.
The Head of State ordered the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to approve within two months the State Program for the Development of the Ukrainian Carpathian Region for 2020 – 2022, taking into account the Concept for the Development of Mountainous Areas of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
Also, according to the text of the decree, the government should make in the draft law on the state budget of Ukraine for the 2020 and subsequent years the provision for the expenditures necessary for the implementation of this state program.
The Presidential Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
