The population of Transcarpathia decreased significantly in January-March

As of April 1, 2020, it is estimated that the existing population in the region was 1253.0 thousand people.

During January-March 2020 there was a total population drop by 763 people. The decrease in the population of the region was due to a natural decrease by 804 people, while a migration increase by 41 people was recorded.

Natural population shift in January-March 2020 was characterized by the excess of the number of deaths over births: 80 births per 100 deaths.

Compared to January-March 2019 the number of births increased by 147 people or 4.7% and amounted to 3289 people.

The number of deaths in the region compared to January-March 2019 decreased by 176 people or 4.1% and amounted to 4093 people.

In January-March 2020, 43 children under the age of 1 died, in January-March 2019 – 29 children.

According to the available administrative data on the change of residence registration, in January-March 2020, 1488 people moved to the region, 1447 people moved out.
