The police tracked down the driver, who had hit a woman and fled from the accident scene

On October 4, 2016, at 19.50, a man reported to the police that in the village of Synevyr, an unknown person had hit a pedestrian and fled. The 72-year-old woman died on the spot from her injuries. 

At the scene, the police found out that the woman had been hit by a foreign car, and after the accident the driver immediately fled towards Mizhhirya. All posts and police patrols were looking for the driver. 

October 6, employees of Mizhhirya police found out that this fatal accident had been committed by a 25-year resident of Mizhhirya district. The investigators initiated criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Art.286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules by persons driving a vehicle). Sanction of this Article provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
