Yesterday, September 7, during the preventive operation "Weapons and Explosives", an officer of the criminal police department together with the Uzhgorod policemen found and seized from a local resident ammunition and a grenade. He tried to sell the ammunition to passers-by.
The police, that recorded the criminal acts, identified the dealer. The man is a local resident, 50 years old. He voluntarily gave law enforcement officers a plastic bag containing 20 rounds and a grenade. In addition, the offender said that he had a cache where he kept the rest of the ammunition. Law enforcement officers found there another 100 rounds, 6 grenades and a manual anti-tank grenade launcher.
According to the suspect, he found all that in May of this year in a bag near the railway station in Uzhgorod.
The ammunition and the weapons were seized and sent for examination.
The police are investigating this incident Criminal proceeding has been opened under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal use of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
The choice of pre-trial restraint against the man is being decided.
