The police is investigating the violation of patient confidentiality in Transcarpathia

Following a report of an official of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Irshava district police have opened an investigation into a case concerning disclosure of confidential information regarding the death of a pensioner. The persons involved are being identified
According to the Communication department of the Transcarpathian regional police, on April 6, the police received from an official of the Transcarpathian regional state administration a report about the violation of the law by the medical staff of the local hospital. In particular, the publication on the Internet of information about the medical diagnosis of a deceased resident of the village of Pryborzhavske.
"Criminal investigators opened criminal proceedings under Article 132 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, the disclosure of information about medical examination for human immunodeficiency virus or other incurable infectious disease," – the statement reads.
Law enforcement officers are now identifying persons involved in the disclosure of confidential information and breach of the privacy of health-care providers. The case is under investigation.
