Officers of the Mukachevo police department are investigating the case on suspicion of a 36-year-old man in a series of thefts of telephone cables. The man was arrested and taken into custody. The investigation continues.
The police detained the man immediately after he had committed the theft. The thief was stealing cables from the sewers mainly at night. The man would cut off 40 to 300 meters of cable at a time and then sell it. The amount of losses caused by him is currently being established. Some of the evidence was seized.
In addition to the aforementioned thefts, the man is charged with more than four dozen similar crimes, the cases whereof are currently pending in a local court.
The investigation into all the crimes is ongoing, criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, theft committed repeatedly.
