Khust police detained the vandal who had damaged a memorial gravestone. The offender had previously been brought to justice for committing crimes. Psychiatric examination will establish whether he is sane.
The head of the local church appealed to the police. He said that at the Catholic cemetery on the Castle Hill, unknown offenders had toppled a cross on the tomb monument.
Officers of the criminal police began search for the vandal. The day before, a drunken man was seen at the cemetery. He was suspected of committing the crime.
The 38-year-old resident of Khust confessed to the crime. He said that he had been at the cemetery, toppled something, but did not remember what exactly because he was very drunk.
This man had already been repeatedly brought to justice. But he was never imprisoned because he has a mental disorder.
If psychiatric examination confirms that the man is sane, he faces criminal liability.
