Mizhhirya law enforcement officers received the information that a resident of the village of Vuchkove might be illegally keeping weapons and ammunition at home. To check the information, law enforcement officers conducted in the 51-year-old man’s house a search sanctioned by court. In the living room, the police found 3 smooth-bore guns, 87 cartridges of different caliber, about 350 grams of powder and 5 knives.
The police seized the weapons and sent it for examination.
Law enforcement officers opened a criminal proceeding over the fact under Part 1 of Article 263 (carrying, possession, purchasing, manufacturing, repairing, provision or sale of firearms (other than smooth-bore hunting firearms), ammunition, explosives or explosive devices without a statutory permit.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of two to five years. Also, the owner of the guns will be brought to the administrative responsibility in accordance with Article 190 of the CAO. The pre-trial investigation in this case continues.
