Yesterday, January 1, a rapid response team together with a forester caught a resident of the village of Rodnykivka in Svalyava district for illegally hunting a deer. A rifle and 10 kg of prey was seized from the 42-year-old man. The police found out that the Transcarpathian had a permit for the weapon, but no documents that would allow him to hunt in forest lands.
A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Art. 248 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is illegal hunting. Such actions are punishable by a fine of up to one hundred untaxed minimum incomes, or imprisonment for up to three years, with the forfeiture of the hunting tools and all the game. The investigation is being conducted.
