October 10, the court imposed pretrial restraint in the form of detention on two men suspected of extorting money from a resident of Mukachevo. However, one of the defendants in the case can be released on bail of 110,000 UAH.
On Friday, October 7, police officers arrested criminals, who were demanding from a Transcarpathian 10 thousand euros. The detention took place when the criminals receved half of the requested amount. Also, the police found weapons and drugs in their car.
In late August, a Transcarpathian reported to the police that a criminal was demanding from him a large sum of money, namely ten thousand euros. The man was threatened that if he does not pay, he and his family members would suffer. The criminal demanded the "compensation" for the moral damage, which the victim had allegedly caused him…
The investigation department of the police in Transcarpathian region initiated a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Art. 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (extortion). During the preliminary investigation, the operatives identified all the people involved.
October 7, during the operation, police officers detained a 26-year-old director of a security company and a 25-year-old unemployed resident of Mukachevo when they were receiving half of the amount they demanded from the applicant – 152,500 UAH.
The detention took place at a gas station in the city of Mukachevo. The police officers found in the criminals’ car mobile phones, cash in various currencies, a device for shooting rubber bullets and 40 rounds to it, four 5 ml syringes each containing a white powdery substance similar to methamphetamine and nearly a dozen flash cards.
The detained persons are currently in the temporary detention facility. The investigation continues.
