The police arrested a swindler, who had cheated dozens of people

A 39-year-old resident of Mukachevo, under the pretext of job placement abroad, cheated 14 citizens out of total of 180,000 UAH.

The police are investigating all the incidents. The court imposed on the swindler a pre-trial restraint in the form of house arrest.

In April this year, a 34-year-old local resident filed a statement to Mukachevo Police Department. The man said that in early January, a 39-year-old resident of Mukachevo had taken from the applicant money for alleged job placement in Sweden.

However, the man did not keep the promise and did not return the money. During the preliminary investigation, the police officers found out that, during several months, the 39-year-old resident of Mukachevo had also appropriated the money of other citizens whom he also promised employment abroad.

 – According to preliminary data, the criminal cheated 14 citizens, icluding residents of Mukachevo, Sumy, Chernivtsi, Kyiv and Cherkasy. As a result of fraudulent conduct, the man appropriated funds totaling 180 thousand hryvnia – the senior investigator of Mukachevo Police Department Artur Cherenkov conducting the pre-trial investigation said.  

Currently, the police have started criminal proceeding under Part 1 and 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud).

The court imposed on the suspect a pre-trial restraint in the form of house arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
