On the eve of All Saints Day – November 1, Mukachevo city police received from a 77-year-old pensioner the information about the desecration of her mother-in-law’s grave.
The applicant said that within two weeks, when she was not visiting the cemetery on Matrosov street, unknown persons had stolen from the grave of her mother-in-law two tombstones: a black marble one with the inscription and the cover of the monument made of granite. Also, the victim reported that about six months ago they had paid for this monument about 7000 UAH.
In the course of investigation activities, the suspect was identified – a 39-year-old resident of Mukachevo who had never had problems with the law. The investigators of Mukachevo police department initiated criminal proceedings over this fact under Art.297, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desecration), punishable by restraint or imprisonment for up to three years – Natalia Mashiko, Mukachevo City Police Department reported.
