The police are investigating the death of a newborn

On October 17, the police received from doctors a report that a woman with bleeding had been delivered to Tyachiv district hospital. As the police found out, the woman had had premature labour, and she gave birth to a baby at home. The baby died right after birth.

Since some signs of bodily injuries were found on the baby’s body, the investigators are establshing whether the cause of the child’s death was delivery complications or other causes.

A criminal proceeding was opened under Part 1 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Deliberate murder of a newborn child by his or her mother").
