The artists of the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theater participated in the Vth Annual International Festival of Puppet Theater and Games and Entertainment for Children and Parents "VIRVAR", that was held in the Slovak city of Kosice.
This year, the festival "VIRVAR" took place from 1 to 4 of June at several city locations. The event loved by children and adults began with a cheerful parade with puppets and masks on the central streets and continued with other programs. A total of twelve theater companies performed at the festival, including the theater-studio "KVELB" from the Czech Budejovice, which presented in front of the historic building of the State Theater in Kosice the play "Black Bunch" full of black humor and bizarre situations. Ukraine, in addition to the Transcarpathians, was represented by Khmelnitsky Academic Puppet Theater "Diven."The local theater showed its popular production of "Underwater Fairy Tale" about a small shark that did not want to be a predator.
The Transcarpathians this time presented to Slovak viewers one of their best productions, which, however, had not yet been presented at the "VIRVAR" – namely, the highlight of the "Bavka" repertoire – the performance "Sad Sack from a Den" by Dmytro Keshelya directed by Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Kutsyk.
