The Parliament allowed the government to suspend the payment under some external obligations of public and publicly guaranteed debts of Ukraine.
256 deputies voted for the bill number 2898 as a basis and generally.
"The bill provides for empowering the Cabinet and the respective municipalities to suspend payments under all or some public external borrowings, government-guaranteed foreign loans and local external borrowings" – the memorandum states.
In addition, the bill provides for the introduction of a temporary moratorium on fulfillment of creditors’ demands under such obligations of external borrowing subjects provided that the Cabinet and / or respective city council adopts an appropriate decision on them.
"The adoption of the bill will allow to change the terms of loans under the state guaranteed debt and local debt and to prevent the negative consequences of potential cases of default," – the memorandum states.
The Parliament also adopted relevant amendments to the Budget Code. 246 deputies voted for the decision.
