The number of foster families and family-type orphanages in the region will increase

Transcarpathian region occupies one of the top places in terms of creation of the conditions for family care for orphans and children deprived of parental care. The deputy head of the service for children Nataliya Krasnohorska told about the involvement of children in such forms of education.

         – We take measures to implement social initiatives of the President of Ukraine concerning the creation of conditions for family care and creative development of each child. The work of executive bodies is aimed at social protection of orphans and children deprived of parental care, realizing their rights to education, health and harmonious development. To do this, first of all, we need to involve in family care as many children as possible.

Today, there are 2,411 orphans and children deprived of parental care in the region. Most of these children (1,821) are covered with family care. Of these, 1,473 children live in families of citizens, another 348 children are brought up in family-type orphanages and foster families.

Transcarpathian region ranks high on the number of family-type orphanages. Today there are 36 of them here. In 2013, we plan to create two family-type orphanages in Vynogradiv and Uzhgorod districts, as well as 14 foster families – Nataliya Krasnohorska said.
