A meeting on the construction of a new highway from the Ukrainian-Hungarian border to the city of Mukachevo, which in the future will become the main motorway between Ukraine and Hungary, was held at the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine.
The new road will connect the Hungarian motorway M3 with the Ukrainian motorway M-06 and will make the transport connection between Ukraine and Europe more convenient, unload the checkpoints "Chop-Zahony" and "Luzhanka-Beregsurany", which currently take the bulk of the cargo road haulage.
A new checkpoint "Dyida" will be built on the border.
The length of the new road will be 20.6 km. The road will have the I-b technical category with 4 lanes (two on each side) with the speed of 110 km / h.
Oleksandr Kava, the Advisor to the Head of the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine: "The new highway will significantly change the traffic flow in Transcarpathia. It will be the shortest route between Ukraine and Hungary, thanks to which the load on the M-06 road on the Mukachevo-Uzhgorod stretch and the M-24 road on the Mukachevo-Beregovo stretch will be substantially relieved.
It is expected that the main transit flow will go through the new high-speed road, which will free the streets within settlements from transit trucks, improve the ecological situation, and increase road safety."
In addition, the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine is developing a feasibility study for the extension of this highway with 4 lanes from Mukachevo to Lviv.
