Part of the bill on repressive measures for cars with European license plates was posted online. The bill is still being discussed at the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy together with activists of the "AvtoYevroSyla" movement.
According to the Segodnya newspaper, the bill will consist of two parts. The first one is a large-scale legalization of the "euromobiles" that are already in the country. The second part is measures that should block any possibility of importing cars to Ukraine without customs clearance. The latter part is ready.
If the law is adopted, Ukrainians will be able to drive a car registered for a foreign company for up to 10 days. Now, the term is a year, and citizens buy cars in Lithuania, register them for local companies, which then issue for Ukrainians authorization for the use of the car.
If you need more than 10 days, you’ll have to confirm it with documents. And if a person, who has imported a car to Ukraine, grants the use of the car to someone else or disassembles it for spare parts, then he or she faces a fine of 17,000 UAH.
The control over cars with European license plates will be tightened. The police and the fiscal service will have access to the border guards database. In fact, they will have the right to stop drivers and check the period of stay in Ukraine. For this purpose, an electronic database of cars, that have entered Ukraine, will be created.
