The National Bank estimates the outflow of deposits in the banking system at 30%, but so far does not plan to impose restrictions on the issuance of deposits to citizens.
This was stated by the director of the monetary policy department Olena Shcherbakova during the press conference at the National Bank, the "UNIAN" reported.
"The outflow of deposits from banks since 21 of January amounts to 104 billion hryvnias. This represents about 30% of the banking system," – Shcherbakova said and reported that the issue of the stabilization in the deposit market is discussed with the banks constantly. However Shcherbakova said that for now the regulator has no plans to limit the issuance of deposit to citizens.
"We have not yet prepared proposals on this issue. There are complex discussions. On the one hand, it affects population. On the other – we understand that the banking system is in difficult conditions. If we decide to do anything, it will not be done secretly, we will invite you and let you know," – added she.
