The National children’s reading week will be held in Uzhgorod (Announcement)

On March 20, for the first time in Transcarpathian region, the opening of the National children’s reading week "With the Book to the Future!" will be held with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the National Library of Ukraine for Children. 

This campaign was founded in the early years of Ukraine’s independence. Its goal is to popularize books and encourage children to read, to hold interesting meetings of authors with children, and to organize professional communication between managers in culture and writers, publishers, librarians.

The series of thematic events that will be taking place over the next week in the region officially launches in Uzhgorod on March 20 and includes:

10.00-11.00 – Workshop "Make a book more beautiful" (with the participation of famous masters Lyudmila Hubal, Natalia Stehura, Svitlana Zalutska, Olesya Rybalko, Maria Korsak);

– Exhibition-quest "How to get into a story?";

– Exhibition-crossword "Read! Know! Guesses!";

– Exhibition and autograph session "Writers Transcarpathia – to children";

– Fest lottery "Gift for a poem";

11.00-12.30 – Opening of the National children’s reading week – 2017 (Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theater "Bavka", Uzhgorod, Teatralna sq., 8).

12.30-13.30 – Musical and theatrical performance "Listen, child, I will tell you the story of my land" (Uzhgorod, Teatralna Sq.)

13.00-14.00 – Round table "Support and development of children’s reading in Ukraine: nationwide idea and regionwide experiences" (Transcarpathian Regional Library for Children and Youth, Uzhgorod, Voloshin st., 20).

13.30 – Flash mob "Read with us! Read like us! Read better than us!" (Downtown Uzhgorod).

14.30 – Presentation of the new book by Vasyl Shkirya "Sarkany" (Transcarpathian Regional Library for Children and Youth, Uzhgorod, Teatralny lane, 9).

15.00-16.00 – Meetings with famous children’s writers of Ukraine, as part of the project "All Transcarpathia reads to children" (Transcarpathian Regional Library for Children and Youth, Uzhgorod, Voloshin st., 20, Uzhhorod Central City Library for Children, Uzhgorod, B.Khmelnytsky sq., 3).
