On January 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine became a full member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development International Network of Financial Education (OECD / INFE), the site of the NBU reported.
According to the first deputy head of the National Bank of Ukraine Boris Prikhodko, the National Bank of Ukraine’s accession to the global international platform of the OECD / INFE confirms the intention of the National Bank of Ukraine to further implement national educational activities using best practices.
The regulator for the third consecutive year has been spreading financial literacy among citizens which help make effective and prudent decisions about management of personal finances under specific circumstances. In particular, on the website of the National Bank there is a special section "Financial Literacy" with educational materials and advice for planning the family budget, a list of useful literature, scenarios of training and educational activities and interactive sessions for different age groups.
According to Boris Prikhodko, improving the financial literacy of Ukrainians is an investment in the future of financial independence and stability of our country. Because changes in global economic conditions, the use of good practices and achievements of technological progress in the banking sector, the creation of new products dictate their demands on the level of financial literacy of citizens of Ukraine.
The cooperation with the OECD / INFE will ensure more efficient use of theoretical achievements and practical experience of international financial institutions.
