The deficit of the current account on the basis of 2014 could be reduced to 4-4.5% of GDP, compared with a deficit of 9% of GDP in 2013.
This was disclosed by the director of the General department of the monetary policy of the National Bank Olena Shcherbakova at a press conference, the UNIAN reported.
"The current account to GDP will definitely be improved. Our estimation – within 4-4.5% of GDP," – she said.
As reported, the current account deficit in 2013 amounted to 16.1 billion dollars, which is 1.8 billion more than that in 2012.
According to forecasts of the World Bank, the current account deficit will reach 6.5% of GDP in 2014, 4.3% in 2015 and 2.6% in 2016.
