The municipality say that the decision not to dismantle the infamous terrace on Korzo street, despite the petition of Uzhgorod residents, is… a compromise

One of the issues on the agenda for consideration at the session of Uzhgorod City Council was the terrace on Korzo street. As you know, citizens supported the petition for its dismantling, so the Council had to put the issue to a vote.

However, for unknown reasons, the majority of deputies did not support the decision to dismantle the terrace, despite the direct violation of the Rules, blocking of the central pedestrian zone and the petition of Uzhgorod residents.

The most interesting thing is the official position of the mayor and the City Council press service.

They informed that the deputies had not supported the draft decision on the terrace and the related petition. And then, they stated the following:

"At the suggestion of the Mayor of Uzhgorod Bohdan Andriyiv, the deputies supported the compromise draft, according to which the terrace remains, and next year new rules and requirements for the installation of terraces in the historical center of the city will be determined."

So, if the terrace does not comply with the rules, let’s not remove it, but instead change the rules, which forbid it… It is not exactly clear where is the "compromise" in that.

Meanwhile, people are posting motifakes about the infamous terrace which, apparently, will be "decorating" Korzo at least until the cold season.
