"Last year, the former mayor with the city council majority voted for the program, under which the money from the budget were to be spent for advertising of the city government in the local media." This was announced by the Acting Mayor Victor Shchadey.
"Last year, we, as the opposition in the City Council, opposed this program. Now I introduced a draft decision to re-allocate the funds, provided for advertising, for the purchase of medicines for hospitals," – the head of the city said.
At the last session of the City Council, they decided to reduce budget expenditures for a number of programs. This was a necessary measure, as on the day before, the Parliament had also reduced the state budget. Accordingly, all the local budgets had to be reduced too. Because of that, the expenditures for purchase of medicines were reduced by 116,000 UAH.
Instead, already at the next session, 175,000 UAH will be re-allocated for medicines. In addition, according to Victor Shchadey, by the end of the year, they will allocate additional funds to finance the purchase of medicines: "I understand that over these months we can not fundamentally solve the problem with medicines. But one thing I can say for sure – the situation with expenditures for medicines will not be worse than what was previously provided in the budget. Though only by few tens of thousands, but we will increase the funding for medications. In this situation, even this step is important."
