The Ministry of Environment is ready to finance the restoration of the unique Museum of Forest and Rafting using the funds of the European Union

During the celebration of the folk festival "Trembitas call to the Synevyr", the Minister of Environment Ostap Semerak together with the leaders of Transcarpathian region visited some unique facilities that are located within the National Park "Synevyr". One of them is the only in Ukraine and Europe Rehabilitation Center for Brown Bears which needs expansion. Currently, in Ukraine, there are 37 court decisions to withdraw brown bears from various owners for abusing the animals. The Center is unable to take so many animals for rehabilitation, therefore O.Semerak will consider its extension after returning to Kyiv.

Another focus of attention of the Minister and the leaders of Transcarpathia was the Museum of the Forest and Rafting on the Chorna Richka, which is unique in Europe (there is a similar museum in Canada). The Transcarpathian museum along with the Synevyr lake could have been one of the most attractive tourist destinations of Transcarpathia. But it is not, because first it was damaged by a natural disaster, and then became the target of a raider attack – the museum, in violation of the law, was alienated from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for further privatization.

Mr. Ostap promised to restore the museum using the EU funds allocated to Ukraine to solve various environmental problems. They will do everything possible to revive this tourist highlight of Transcarpathia.
