The first Deputy of the Minister of Agrarian Policy in Ukraine Yaroslav Krasnopolskyi informed that due to the devaluation of the hryvnia the cost of wheat in May may increase which may increase the price of bread up to 10 UAH – informs the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
"In May last year the price of wheat amounted to 2500 UAH per ton. Due to a double devaluation of the currency, the expected price for May 2015 is 4500-5000 UAH per ton, therefore, the price of flour will reach 6 to 8 thousand UAH per ton. As a result, the maximum final price of bread will be about 9.10 UAH "- says the press service according to Ya.Krasnopolskyi.
In his view, this price may lead to negative social consequences.
In addition, he says about a number of other risks that could lead to an increase in prices, namely, the state of winter (about 16% are weak and liquefied crops), hostilities, more expensive inputs. A potential risk factor is also possible revision of tax incentives and the introduction of special duty on imported resources to ensure trade balance.
