The Ministers of Ukraine and Slovakia declared the need to restore the airport “Uzhgorod”

Today,  October 4, during the briefing, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajczak discussed the importance of functioning of the international airport in Uzhgorod

"We have not been able to fly for several years. It affects the whole region, which may be the central European hub," – Klimkin said.

The Minister stressed that he and Miroslav Lajczak would provide assistance for effective technical consultations on the restoration of the operation of Uzhgorod airport.

Recall that the Uzhgorod airport is the only one in Ukraine that uses airspace of the neighboring state – Slovakia – for the take-off and landing of planes. Today, the airport is operating in limited mode. The issue of restoration of the proper functioning of the "Uzhgorod" International Airport was considered at the meeting at the Ministry of Infrastructure, where the Deputy Minister Lavrenyuk stressed the importance of launching "…the full functioning of the "Uzhgorod" airport" as soon as possible.
