The meeting-requiem in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy took place in Uzhgorod

The meeting-requiem in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy was held today in Uzhgorod at the monument to Transcarpathian liquidators of the disaster at the nuclear power plant. 

The leaders of Transcarpathia – Hennadiy Moskal and Mykhailo Rivis, Uzhgorod Mayor Bogdan Andriyiv, heads of law enforcement and regulatory agencies, district heads and representatives of diplomatic missions, NGOs and residents of the regional center laid flowers and bowed heads in memory of the victims of the greatest man-made disaster. 

Currently 759 persons affected by the consequences of the explosion at the plant live in Uzhgorod. Of those, 394 are liquidators of the accident, 156 are people who moved from the Chernobyl zone, 42 are widows, 167 are children who have the status of victims of the Chernobyl disaster
