As the Acting Head of Urban Planning and Architecture Department of Uzhgorod City Council Leonid Samsonov reported in the interview to the municipal newspaper "Uzhgorod", the competition of preliminary projects for comprehensive improvement of the historic part of Uzhgorod has been completed.
"This week (the conversation took place in late May – Ed.) we finished the competition, several projects were proposed, and the commission will consider them" – the Acting Chief Architect of Uzhgorod said.
Answering the question about when the winning project could be seen, he said: "The commission has three days for consideration of proposals, so the winner will be announced at the beginning of the next week (ie, in early June – Ed.). It is assumed that the author of the best project will have the right to develop working documents – to the extent the budget allows."
By the way, as uzhgorod.in already noted, Teatralna square indeed needs reconstruction, but who knows whether professionals and the public will approve the project. However, Samsonov did not comment on this issue, in fact, he was never even asked about that, as well as about why the contest was so sudden.
As previously reported, according to the decision of the executive committee, the authors of the three best preliminary projects for comprehensive improvement of the historic part of Uzhgorod will share the 45,000 UAH prize.
