Today, there was a meeting of the Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv with the residents of Uzhgorod outraged about the demolition of the Fundanych house at Voloshin st., 47. This was reported by the press service of the City Council.The meeting was also attended by the chief architect of the city Oleg Borshovsky and the head of the State Architecture and Construction Control department Oleksandra Zotova. The mayor said that the prosecutors are examining all circumstances of the reconstruction of the Fundanych house and assured that if any of the city council officials is found guilty, he or she would be punished.
The chief architect of Uzhgorod Oleg Borshovsky once again explained that the Fundanych house is private property located in the historic area of the Castle Hill complex. The owner appealed to Uzhgorod city council asking to issue city planning conditions and restrictions for reconstruction of the house. He was told to develop the historical and city planning study on the possibility of the reconstruction and have it approved by the Advisory council on the protection of cultural heritage of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration. The approval was granted, then the project was reviewed by members of the Architecture and City Planning Board at the City Planning and Architecture Department of Uzhgorod City Council.
The developer was given city planning conditions and restrictions with the requirement to take the comments of the City Planning Board into account. Then, the owner ordered the construction documents, received an expert opinion about it and submitted the declaration about the commencement of construction works. The declaration was registered by the State Architecture and Construction Incpectorate of Ukraine in Kyiv. Law enforcement agencies must find out why the building was demolished.
In conclusion, the Mayor of Uzhgorod Bohdan Andriyiv said that all suggestions and comments of the community, particularly on the moratorium on construction works in the city center, certification of all buildings in the center, estabishment of the dedicated structural unit in the municipality, would be considered.
Recall that Uzhgorod City and District Court granted the petition of the pretrial investigation brought by the local prosecutor’s office and seized the historic building of the Fundanych store in Uzhgorod, thus prohibiting the developer to use in any way or carry out construction works on the building at Voloshin st., 47 in Uzhgorod.
