Today, as expected, despite the protests, the City Council granted the lease of the land plot near the "Avangard" stadium for arrangement of… golf courses.
The deputies, as uzhgorod.in already reported, by a majority of votes supported the draft decision "On granting the permit for the development of land management projects on land acquisition."
Among other things, it refers to 2,38 hectares for the Children and Youth Sports School for arrangment of training golf courses on Studentska embankment.
Appearance of golf courses – new sport for Transcarpathia – in Uzhgorod is quite natural, the mayor said in his comments to uzhgorod.in.
"We want to be in the civilized world. Golf is everywhere. So this will be the promotion of golf in the coastal zone, where no construction can be carried out, and a soft golf course will be situated. At the expense of those who will do it."
The mayor explained that they will allocate to the Sports School the land plot near the suspension bridge – the one that gets occasionally flooded. In addition, according to Pogorelov, they will "return to the school the abandoned "Automobilist" stadium so that kids could play football there."
