On Friday, January 16, the head of the RSA Vasyl Hubal and the Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko discussed the details of future cooperation between Hungary and Transcarpathia with the Consul General of the Republic of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Bachkai.
The meeting was attended by the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka.
In general, at the meeting with the Consul, they talked about specific areas of Transcarpathia’s contacts with Hungarian neighbors – discussed the details of the agreement of cooperation in the framework of the Eastern Partnership between the Regional Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary.
The document, among other things, provides for assistance from the neighboring country in financing social projects in the region. In particular, those are the repair of the State Archives premises in Beregovo, renovation of the Library of UzhNU, arrangement of a library at the Hungarian Humanities and Natural Sciences Faculty of UzhNU and the support for the Center of Hungarology. They also talked about the prospects of repair of the road to the checkpoint Vylok and the projects within the Danube Strategy, which involves flood events.
The participants also discussed the program of the visit of the neighboring state official – the Minister of Foreign Economy and Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siyarto – to Transcarpathia to be held in January.
The head of the RSA Vasyl Hubal informed that he would have a meeting with the Presidential Administration and government officials on cross-border cooperation, which directly concerns Transcarpathia – to receive government guarantees for these projects and to work at the national level. Especially it concerns the development of cross-border infrastructure on the Transcarpathian area of borders with neighboring countries.
