As we reported, today, in Uzhgorod, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted an operation to detain a man for extortion. In this regard, the Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region released the official information.
Procedural prosecutors of the prosecutor’s office of Transcarpathian region together with officers of the department for combating corruption and organized crime of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region detained a member of the transnational criminal group for systematic extortion of money from a resident of Uzhgorod.
It has been established that the detained racketeer, a native of Dagestan, demanded money from the victim for non-existent debts threatening with violence and using physical force.
Trying to obtain money illegally, he threatened the Uzhgorod resident in the presence of his fifth-grader brother and a retired grandmother. The day before, he broke open the front door to their apartment in their presence, demanding to "repay the debt."
The racketeer was detained near one of the shopping centers in Uzhgorod, after he had received the cash in amount of 5 thousand hryvnias.
