Istvan Marton’s "Mass" hes been mentioned quite often recently: almost simultaneously this piece was performed by two leading choirs of the region different stages. I think the great Maestro would only be glad about it. Some helped him restore this work during his lifetime. And others are trying to bring it to the masses. Both are doing a good deed. Yet, this wonderful music, I think, was written by the author, not only for the so-called "Beau monde". No wonder it was first performed in 1946 in Mukachevo church for parishioners. Thus, groups and soloists of the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic, after two concerts in Uzhgorod, will present I.Marton’s "Mass" in other cities of Transcarpathia. And the first to hear the sacred music of our countryman will be residents of Khust and Vynogradiv: on Apri 24l, on Palm Sunday, "Mass" will be performed in Khust Roman Catholic Church of St. Anna (16.00), where there is a unique organ of 19th century, and in Vynogradiv church of the Franciscan monastery (at 19.00).Also, performance in Mukachevo, Beregovo, Tyachiv are planned. It is encouraging that local philanthropists take part in the organization of these events, and the funds collected will go to the needs of churches. The Honored Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir, Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, soloists Yustina Didyk (soprano), Yana Sadvariy (mezzo-soprano), Volodymyr Hirnyk (baritone) and Olesya Haiduk (organ) take part in the project. Conducted by Natalia Petiy-Potapchuk.
