The main Christmas trees of Transcarpathian cities (PHOTOS)

We checked the official sites of the city, town and district councils, district state administrations, and made the traditional "show" of the main Christmas trees. So, take a look.

Uzhgorod. Traditionally, the inflammation of the main Christmas tree of the city on December 19 was accompanied by the Parade of Mikolajczyks who marched the main streets of Uzhgorod. The kids were greeted by the Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv. This year, the 15-meter-tall tree was presented to the city by Uzhgorod residents.

Another Christmas tree is on Narodna Square in front of the building of the Regional State Administration, which is considered the main Christmas tree of the region. The tree was brought from the village of Lazeshchyna in Rakhiv district. The 70-year-old fir tree about 18 meters high. The tree was decorated with fairy-lights and half a thousand decorations. In addition to silver and red balls from last years, this year, they have bought new yellow, silver and red toys in the shape of bells.    

Mukachevo. The Christmas tree on the central Cyril and Methodius square was opened solemnly on the eve of St. Nicholas Day by the Mayor Andriy Baloha and Viktoriya Kozyk, a student of the school 11, a multiple participant and winner of the International Ukrainian Language Contest, holder of the city council scholarship. The schoolgirl was chosen through an online voting among gifted and talented children of the city. Mukachevo has an artificial Christmas tree, which the city purchased last year. Its height is 15 m.

Beregovo. The real tree in Beregovo is 16 m high. Next to it, there is a crib with real sheep. At the opening, the children were greeted by Mikulas, St. Nicholas, Father Frost with Snow Maiden and the symbol of the next year – Dog.

Chop. This city continues the good tradition for the third year in a row to decorate the real trees in the central part of the city. Students of secondary schools №1 and №2, pupils of the Chop children’s music school performed at opening of the Christmas tree on December 19.

Khust. The main tree of the city, which is 12 meters high, was decorated not only with last year’s ornaments, but also with new ones. Mykola the Miracle Worker and children performed a "miracle". The celebration finished with a flashmob and round dance. At the New Year’s Fair, visitors were treated with bograch, mulled wine.

Rakhiv. This year, Rakhiv city council purchased many new fairy lights. Next to the main Christmas tree of the city, there is a snowman, restored sledges with gifts and a deer..

Volovets. On December 18, the main Christmas tree of the district was solemnly lit up. St. Nicholas and his helpers visited the holiday. There were performances of talented children of the district, games, contests, and festive fireworks.

Irshava. The city has an artificial Christmas tree since 2012. It was opened on December 24th, on the central square of the city. This year, some of the trees in the center of the city and the Christmas crib were also decorated with illumination.  

Svalyava. The festive inflammation of the Christmas tree of the city, which grew up to 28 meters, started with the performance of a song about St. Nicholas. It is one of the pines, which grow in the center. There was also the Parade of St. Nicholases.

Tyachiv. The event on Poshtova Square began with the original and spectacular dance on ice, which was prepared by the pupils of Tyachiv school № 1. Then, Tyachiv Mayor Ivan Kovach congratulated residents and guests of the city. This year’s Christmas tree was traditionally decorated with toys made by pupils and preschoolers in the framework of the contest "Decorate the Tree of Your City". 

Perechyn. The main tree of the city was opened on the eve of the St. Nicholas day. The action took place on Narodna square, it was attended by the fairy-tale character Luntik, the children were solving riddles, singing. The green beauty and the square shone with New Year’s illumination. 

Vynogradiv. On December 18, the opening of the city Christmas tree was held on the central square of the city. The Mayor Stepan Bochkay greeted everyone thanked the designers, who had decorated the tree. The lights were turned on, and St. Nicholas gave children sweet gifts.
