The level of juvenile crime in Transcarpathia has decreased

The agenda included the issue of prevention of juvenile delinquency in the last year, work with children living in families who have found themselves in difficult circumstances and prevention of domestic violence and child abuse.

The chief of the preventive activity department of the National Police in Transcarpathian region Vasyl Magyar informed that for the last year, the level of juvenile crime decreased by ten percent. 269 crimes were committed by minors or with their participation against 300 for the same period in 2014. Giving a description of the state of crime in the current year, the speaker noted that within two months this year, minors have not committed any serious and very serious crimes.

The Deputy Head of the Department of Social Welfare Victor Matsola noted that during 2015 the regional police received 2121 complaints regarding domestic violence, 1368 official warnings and 90 protective orders were issued.

The Head of the Service for Children Svitlana Yakimelina noted that the number of children living in functionally incapable families was reducing. However, she said, the number of children, whose parents are deprived of their parental rights, is not decreasing.

After reviewing these issues, members of the Coordinating Council decided to step up work to identify individuals who involve minors in criminal activity and take measures to restore social functions of the families in difficult circumstances.
