The "Ukrzaliznytsya" conducted an experimental run of a "Tarpan" high-speed train (Intercity class) from Lviv to Uzhgorod. This was reported by the media center of the "Ukrzaliznytsya".
The purpose of the trip, which took place on the night of 7 to 8 of August, was to determine if it is possible to run a high-speed train on the Lviv-Lavochne-Mukachevo-Uzhgorod section. In addition, the maximum speed was determined, and so on.
"According to preliminary results of experimental runs, no serious deficiencies in the infrastructure at this site were found, the train arrived according to the schedule and moved at the set speed", – the report states.
It is not yet clear how much time a trip from Lviv to Uzhgorod will take, how regularly the train will be running and whether the project will be implemented at all.
The introduction of high-speed communication with Transcarpathia became possible after the opening of the Beskydy tunnel. From now on, the capacity of the tunnel per day is 100 pairs of trains (previously, it was 47), and the speed of passing is 60-70 km / h (previously, it was 15-20 km / h).
