The investigation into the causes of the accident is over: the woman almost died because of the unauthorized replacement of the gas boiler

The investigation into the technical causes of the accident, which occurred November 11, 2012 in the town of Chynadievo in Mukachevo district, is over. Then, a female resident of the village, born in 1955, had to be hospitalized because of the poisoning due to the combustion of natural gas while using autonomous heating system, installed in a private house.
According to the chairman of the commission, the chief state gas inspector in Transcarpathian region Ludwig Andraschuk, among the main technical causes of the accident is the replacement of the gas boiler by the homeowner which was carried out without permission and the involvement of the professionals and caused damage to the smoke duct.   
Among the organizational causes of the accident is the failure of Mukachevo branch of "Zakarpathaz" PJSC to ensure proper control over the performance of regular house gas supply system maintenance. That, in its turn, led to the fact that gas workers during the maintenance failed to detect the exhaust ventilation with artificial inducement in the room where the gas boiler with diverting products of combustion in the smoke duct was operated. The commission also drew the attention of "Zakarpathaz" PJSC officials to poor control over the replacement of gas appliances in gas supply systems with amendments to the technical documentation, the lack of the violations’ causes analysis.
In addition, the commission suggested a number of measures to be put into practice by the management of "Zakarpathaz" PJSC to prevent similar accidents in the future – informed Territorial Administration of Derzhhirpromnahliad in Transcarpathian region.
