The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated in the region

On Wednesday, December 4, in Uzhgorod, there was a solemn meeting dedicated to the International Day of People with Disabilities.

As of January 1 this year, there are more than 62,000 people with disabilities registered in the region. This year Transcarpathians with disabilities, who are entitled for cars, have received 10 cars at the expense of the state budget. It is also planned to give another 9 cars, and 9 cars are recognized as humanitarian aid.

Under the regional program "Care", during 9 months, 2167 people (including those with disabilities) have received one-time cash assistance totaling 1,710,400 UAH.

The current year has been successful for the Transcarpathian regional center of physical culture and sports for the disabled "Invasport" and the Regional youth sports school for disabled. In particular, athletes have received many awards in volleyball, skiing, athletics, swimming, powerlifting, orienteering and fencing.

On the occasion of the holiday, Oleksandr Ledyda gave certificates for special wheelchairs for the fencing department for athletes with lesions of the musculoskeletal system and awarded athletes with disabilities with cash prizes – the press-center of the RSA reported.
