The other day, the media reported that on the road Siltse-Irshava, on the stretch Khmilnyk-Irshava of Borzhava narrow-gauge railway, road workers had covered the tracks with asphalt on two crossings. Oleksiy Petrov, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, responded to this incident.
“We cannot destroy history by hiding it under a layer of asphalt!
What the road workers did on the section of the narrow-gauge railway in Irshava district is unacceptable! It is impossible to repair one thing while endangering another.
Borzhava narrow-gauge railway is 112 years old. This is our history and tourist attraction. There are prospects for its development. Therefore, I asked representatives of road company to carry out the works properly, without destruction of infrastructure facilities!
Thanks to the concerned public activists who paid attention to this problem!” – the statement reads.
