The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia should feel that Ukraine cares for them

The Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin insists on the need to increase to 5 years the transition period for implementation of the provisions of the law on education regarding the language of training for representatives of national minorities. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that at a press conference in Kyiv, commenting on the position of Hungary on the implementation of the law on education in relation to the language of training for representatives of national minorities, the Segodnya reported.

Klimkin said that he is in constant contact with NATO and Hungary and regularly meets Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto at international events.

The Foreign Minister noted that Ukraine’s fundamental interest is to find a solution that will make the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia feel "completely at home" and see that Ukraine cares about them.

In this regard, the Minister stressed on the need to change the methodology of studying the Ukrainian language, teach a number of subjects in Ukrainian and train the teachers.

"That is, we need to implement our law on education. Two years is not enough for it", – Klimkin said.
