The Government will monitor environment via satellite

The Government will allocate additional resources to reduce environmental damage, informed the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The environmental situation in Ukraine has been and still remains difficult: anthropogenic and technogenic load on the environment is several times higher than those of developed countries. The task of the government, said its chairman, is to provide a reasonable balance between economic growth and environmental safety.

And today, May 5, Mykola Azarov held a selective meeting with heads of regional state administrations, during which they were talking about environmental protection, environmental issues and the application of modern technologies in the field of environmental protection. The chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Olexandr Ledyda also took part in the conference, the press service informs.

During the meeting a new system of environmental monitoring was introduced. With the help of satellites and photographs taken from space MEP professionals will be able to keep an eye on the state of the environment without having to travel to regions. By the way, for a short period of the system operation there have been detected about 30 thousand of illegal landfills in Ukraine.
